Music and multimedia Nokia handsets are now cheaper

As if it's not already the first choice for most mobile users from all over the world, Nokia has recently cut the prices for lots of its devices in order to make them even more attractive. Thus, according to Reuters, starting this month we will be able to get Nokia phones for prices about 10% lower.

Most of the handsets that are now cheaper are music and multimedia oriented, hence we can easily say that Nokia aims at young users with the new prices. For example, among the devices that can be bought for less than before, Reuters says that we can find the N81 8GB Nseries slider as well as the 5310 and 5610 XpressMusic phones.

While the price cut on current Nokia handsets is surely good news, users might want the Finnish giant to come up with reasonable prices for its upcoming phones too. For example, the N96 flagship, planned to be released this fall, is said to have a retail price of 550 Euros (about $860), which definitely makes the new Nseries unreachable for lots of us.

For the first half of 2008, Nokia is, by far, the market leader when it comes to mobile phones sold, with around 40% of the total number of devices shipped worldwide. The second place is taken by Samsung, which grew to have more than 15% of the market share. Motorola, once the No. 2, is now on the third place (covering 9.5% of the mobile market), while LG and Sony Ericsson come in fourth and fifth, with a market share of 9% and 8% respectively.

Well, Nokia seems to be determined not only to keep its 40% market share, but also to increase it. If the Finish giant further offers new phones for attractive prices, chances are its plans will be successful.
