First S40 software Nokia to include touchscreen capabilities

After a close look at the features of 6208c it's pretty safe to assume it is actually a younger and improved version of the 6708, which can only work to its advantage overall. That's probably exactly what the Chinese users are thinking, since the mobile has been confirmed for China on one of its websites.

Even though this Nokia could be regarded as an extremely interesting release, considering that it is the first S40 software-running mobile equipped with a touchscreen, it would have a long way to go before it could be called a next-level handset. Maybe in China and in other such markets this kind of news may create some excitement, but when it comes to the really developed markets the 6208c does not represent a priority.

Even so, as already mentioned the touchscreen feature, which keeps the flag up for this mobile, hasn't been fully described; therefore, users will have to wait for the actual launch to have some questions answered. Still, considering the stylus included in the retail package plus other such details, the most logical conclusion to be drawn is that the screen in question should be a resistive handwriting-focused one and probably not a capacitive one.

Furthermore, the tri-band EGSM 6208c cell confirms once more its special applications in markets such as the Chinese one, should we consider the 3.2 Megapixel 4x digital zoom, dual LED flash camera, and 2.4'' (320x240 pixels) QVGA display capabilities. On top of this, the handset also sports Bluetooth and USB connectivity, plus the always popular 3.5mm jack and the microSD card slot support. The features and applications this Nokia provides build their own case, by now probably already having convinced most Chinese users out on the prowl.

Even if for now no pricing or availability details have been released, the information flow regarding the release markets is pretty generous since, besides China, Taiwan, India, the Middle East and North Africa have also been confirmed as being targeted as the most likely to get such a device.
