As many of you might already know, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is set to launch its Ovi Store in the near future, with a wide range of applications aimed at cell phone users. According to the latest news on the Web, Niklas Savander, Nokia's executive vice president, stated recently that the number of items that would be present with the Ovi Store at launch would be of 20,000, which is quite impressive.

Currently, there would be only one other application store to feature a larger scale, namely Apple's App Store for the iPhone users, which includes 40,000 software solutions. For the time being, it is uncertain what items will be included on the portal, for there might be custom applications and WidSets, as well as N-Gage games.

According to Forbes, the mobile phone maker will probably stock the Ovi Store with all kinds of digital content. At the same time, the company also stated that there would be a wide range of entertainment solutions available for users, as well as media files like an entire series of short videos.

Moreover, the store will become available in a wide range of languages, as well as with different cultural content, which will probably turn it into a “global app store.” As many of you might already know, Nokia currently offers its products in more than 60 languages. According to Savander, most of the content for the portal has been so far offered by US and Asian companies, yet the offer extends to more countries.

Future Nokia handsets, starting with the Nokia N97 that will come in July, will have the store pre-loaded, yet recently launched Nokia phones will also offer users the possibility to access the portal. It seems that the company considers that, if paired with appealing services, its mobile phones will see more traction on the market.
