BioWare busy making sure that more quests arrive soon

Almost a full month after the official launch date, players have not yet managed to see and play through all the content in the new Star Wars MMO and BioWare claims that it is already working hard to make sure that new quests and stories are ready by the time the majority reaches the end-game.

James Ohlen, who is the game director working on Star Wars: The Old Republic at BioWare, told Eurogamer that, “It didn’t really surprise us because people were able to play from 1-50 in the beta, and some of the people just figured out what the absolute fastest way was to play through the game, so they kind of had their whole strategy set out.”

He added, “We had people that were playing for 72 hours straight. It’s hard to say whether that was one guy or one guy and a buddy. We don’t have that information sadly. I shouldn’t give the specific hours. I can say it was under 100, which is way below our average time. Our average time is much closer to 200 hours in terms of how long it takes a player to get to the endgame.”

BioWare is not very worried about the fact that players will experience all the game content and will then abandon the MMO.

The company is instead focused on making the game experience from level 1 to 50 solid for all classes and all possible story choices, and believes that gamers who are satisfied will then hang around, group in order to play with others and will re-engage with the game when the MMO receives new content.

BioWare has stated that a full team inside the company is working hard to develop new content for The Old Republic while another studio is in charge of fixing bugs and glitches and making changes to the core game mechanics, with at least one major feature update planned for 2012.
