New IPs are always under development

Nintendo is a company on a very high ascending wave in terms of sales, popularity and success. Its two major products, the Nintedo DS handheld and the Wii console, are extremely popular and are enjoying massive sales even though they were launched a few years ago.

Although some analysts claimed that the time of the two gaming machines might soon be up, it seems that nothing can stop the two hot Japanese imports from achieving record-breaking sales month to month. This is largely due to the fact that there are a lot of games that appeal to almost every kind of player, hardcore or casual, and which offer some great experiences.

Now, Reggie Fils-Aime, the Nintendo of America president, has talked with GameDaily about the new IPs (Intellectual Properties) that the Japanese company has in development. Although he wouldn't reveal anything concrete, he does stress the fact that Nintendo will continue to develop all types of first-party games and that it will cater to all of the types of gamers out there, without making any discriminations.

“We're always developing new games and experiences and part of that includes looking at whether it makes sense to create new franchises and new characters. Some gamers want completely new games, while others want another Mario or Zelda game the minute they finish playing the one that just came out. Striking that balance keeps us all very busy! Nintendo makes games for everyone, so you'll find everything from E-rated to M-rated titles.”

While it is nice to see that Nintendo will continue to make new games based on different ideas, let's not forget that the company can't please everyone so there will always be some voices to disagree with this strategy. Let's just hope that the Japanese company will continue to deliver the great games it has gotten us accustomed to, for either the DS or the Wii.
