Aaa, the Wii on the other hand is doing great. And they're not showing off at all, no...

In an interview with the San Jose Mercury News, Nintendo of America boss, Reggie Fils-Aime stated that the Wii is trouncing sales of its only next-gen rival in European territories. He said that Microsoft's next-gen gaming system, the 360 "is selling well only in one country: UK. Across the rest of Europe, it is not performing well. Wii on the other hand, is selling exceptionally well all through Europe."

Microsoft's expectations from their machine are that it will reach the 12 million sold units barrier by the end of this year's June. They're not saying either that it's going to happen for sure, or that it isn't. They're cool about it. Also in the interview, Nintendo of America boss stated that problems surrounding their machine are very few, like reports of consumer's TVs getting damaged from broken Wii straps. Does this sound like Nintendo of America boss is showing off a bit, or is it just me?

I mean, yeah sure the Wii is doing good and all, but why the emphasized comparison with Microsoft's Xbox 360? Is it because Nintendo's first rival is the 360? Reggie Fils-Aime makes it sound like the PS3 is nothing to worry about. So it's a bit expensive this time of the year, but wait until the black shiny monster shows its fangs. Oh, you'd better run then. Not only does Fils-Aime claim that the 360 isn't performing well, but he actually says: "Wii on the other hand..." In other words: well guys, our machine tops all sales, there's nothing you can do about it...Ah...it hurts being so good!

It's good that they're confident and all, but then again, just wait until the PS3 starts to open its big trap and swallows everything in its path, including the Wii. Heck, the Wii is going to be a mere appetizer for it.
