Before New Year's Eve, Nick Cannon was rushed to the hospital in Aspen after suffering mild kidney failure. He returned to work shortly afterwards but, it would seem, his health is still precarious.

On his morning radio show, Rollin' with Nick Cannon on 92.3NOW in NYC, Nick announced that he would be stepping down as host of the show because his health was more important.

Without trying to alarm anyone, he told his fans that his doctors had found blood clots in his lungs and that he'd been warned that his work would kill him if he didn't take a break.

It's not just the radio job that's been putting so much stress on Nick, it would seem. In recent months, he simply overworked himself too much.

“It was quite serious. I was trying to downplay it a lot, even in my own mind. I travel a lot. Anyone who flies a lot can be a victim to getting blood clots because it can start in your legs or your lower back. That, on top of my previous condition made me more prone to [getting blood clots],” Nick announced.

“My doctor was saying that my work is going to kill me – and he’s not joking. I think part of the reason why my health did kind of deteriorate was because I wasn’t resting a lot and I was doing too much. I was overworking myself, working out too much,” he added.

Now that he's also a father, he simply can't afford to not think of his family first.

“But I’m learning that it isn’t the wisest thing all the time, especially being a new father. Not only wanting to spend more time with my children, but wanting to be there for my children,” he explained.

In a separate statement on his blog, Nick says he's going on an indefinite hiatus, putting all work commitments on second place until doctors tell him he's recuperated enough to go back in business.

Fans have already expressed their well wishes, sending him only messages of love and support.
