Nexus One by HTC, the first mobile phone powered by Android to be sold directly via Google's web store, is expected to soon become available for purchase in the UK with Vodafone connectivity. Back in January, Google announced that Vodafone UK would offer users the possibility to enjoy the Nexus One on its airwaves, and it seems that this should happen before April is over.

Of course, the Android-based mobile phone will have to be purchased via Google's web store, just as in the United States or Canada, but those interested in the device will be able to get it with a two-year contract agreement with this carrier. Vodafone had the Nexus One listed on its website in the 'coming soon' section, but no specific time for its availability has been provided until now.

“Take all things Google with you when you're out and about. The powerful new Nexus One from Google combines the latest in hardware with the newest Android software - making it super fast for internet browsing, Google Maps, YouTube and more. Want apps? Check out Android Market. It's packed with apps for everything - from games, news, weather and mobile banking to Facebook and Spotify,” Vodafone says.

The specifications list of Nexus One by HTC includes a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, flash and video recording, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSDPA connectivity options, built in GPS navigation, MP3 player , email, messaging capabilities, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space. Nexus One measures 119 x 59.8 x 11.5 mm and packs inside a battery that can deliver up to 420 minutes of talk time, or up to 250 hours of standby time.

Being a handset marketed by Google itself, Nexus One includes support for all Google services designed for the Android operating system. One will find it easy to access YouTube, Gmail, or Google Maps from this device, while being able to download various applications from the Android Market. Vodafone UK expects to be able to offer contract options for Nexus One starting April, yet no info on the pricing of the device emerged.
