Earlier today I told you that NVIDIA announced it was planning to bring the Android L update for its Tegra Note 7 tablet at some point in the near future.

Android L has also been launched as a Developer Preview for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) tablets, but what about the remaining Nexus slates?

Now it appears, as reported by Slashgear, that Google has sent binaries out for the Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 10 tablets. So does it mean the two slates will be getting Android L in the future? We certainly hope so.

After all, when binaries are sent out to cover a range of devices, it means the same built will be spread over them, or at least a very similar one.

But what about Google’s own statements back at Google I/O 2011, when it announced the Android Update Alliance? The search giant promised support and updates to its devices 18 months after their official release.

Since the Nexus 10 was released back in November 2012, we draw the line and get 19 months since the announcement, with only one month overlapping the threshold.

As for the Nexus 7 (2012), the tablet was launched in June 2012, making it the oldest device in the bunch at 23 months. Based on this data, it doesn't seem likely the two tablets will get the update.

But the apparition of the binaries this week seems to suggest Google is willing to offer a second life to the two aging tablets. Nevertheless, we can’t be 100% sure for now whether the two tablets will get Android L or not.
