The next Brothers in Arms game is set to receive its first details in the following weeks, as Randy Pitchford, the boss of its developer, Gearbox Software, stated that a new game in the franchise is already in development.

Gearbox Software has been involved in quite a lot of projects, not only in the upcoming Duke Nukem Forever, but also Aliens: Colonial Marines as well as the rumored Borderlands 2.

According to Pitchford, his team is also making progress on a new Brothers in Arms game, continuing the company's first all-new franchise, developed in partnership with Ubisoft.

After 2008's Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, the series remained dormant, with many figuring out that Gearbox was focusing on the more popular Borderlands franchise and on Duke Nukem Forever, which is set to appear at the beginning of next month.

That's not exactly correct, as Pitchford told XG247 that a new Brothers in Arms game is in development and that we can expect details about it extremely soon.

"We absolutely love the Brothers in Arms series and the next game in the series is currently in development and expect to see and hear about it all very soon," Pitchford said.

The Gearbox boss talked about the franchise on multiple occasions in the past, saying that his team would love to take it into new directions, but didn't actually confirm that it was, in fact, working a new title.

The Brothers in Arms games were pretty successful, delivering a more tactical approach to the first-person shooter genre, but, due to its setting in World War II, had some serious competition with Activision's Call of Duty or EA's Medal of Honor franchises.

Now, with a new Brothers in Arms game coming soon, it's going to be interesting to see just what Gearbox is going to do in order to differentiate it from the regular World War II shooters.
