14 DAY TRIAL // It seems that the tradition of leaked ROMs of the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system will continue, perhaps up to the moment when the actual platform comes to the market. We learn today that another build of the IS has made it into the wild, a rather more stable one this time.
The new Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM build #21169 seems to be above the more experimental leaks we've seen previously, and it is not only more stable, but also quite faster than expected. At the same time, the new ROM is also reported to include a brand new version of Internet Explorer 6, as well as some of the features that Microsoft showcased at MWC.
The new build delivers new buttons, and more icons built in, while also including faster Sliding Panels. As many of you might already know, for the time being, the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform is not ready for the general public, and might have not even gotten to the manufacturers at this point, yet it should do so in the near future, as handsets that would feature it are expected to come towards us in the second half of the year.
Among the new features that should come with the 6.5 version of the OS there will be enhanced finger friendliness, a new Today Screen, new Start Menu, new Lock Screen, the already mentioned Internet Explorer 6, as well as improved looks. In addition, the newly announced Microsoft services, including MyPhone, Outlook Live and the App Marketplace will also be spotted on the platform.
As said before, we'll still have to wait a little longer before Windows Mobile 6.5 comes our way.
