Emoze announced the release of version 1.4 of its push email and personal information management application. The new version delivers savings in battery consumption, a better synchronization performance and other usability improvements.

emoze is a free service that enables mobile phone users to receive emails in real time, and synchronize contacts and appointments. The service ensures that data is pushed automatically to the mobile handset or PDA with no need to connect to a service or click on a receive button.

One of the improvements brought by the new version is an enhanced battery consumption. emoze already had offered efficient battery usage by only pushing emails to mobile devices when a new email or calendar event arrived in their in-box, and the latest version pushes battery consumption savings even further. In tests performed by emoze , battery life improvements were significant: Nokia N73 phones worked for 60 hours in "always-on," true push mode; Nokia E61 ran for 31 hours; iMate K-JAM phones worked for 120 hours (nearly six days); and PDA2K worked for more than 100 hours.

The latest version also improves emoze's synchronization performance. As a result, emoze now works much faster, even when it has to deal with extremely large Outlook/Lotus Notes databases. For example, a 4.5G Exchange account starts synchronization process in less than one minute. A Nokia N73 can synchronize 1,000 contacts in 8 to 10 minutes (five minutes on an iMate K-JAM). In addition, the new emoze is optimized for efficient operation, consuming little memory and CPU resources.

emoze is compatible with Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones, and Symbian S60 and UIQ devices that have a GPRS or other data connection. The service works with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes mail applications (with support for Microsoft Outlook Express and Mozilla Thunderbird to be added soon) and supports Microsoft Exchange, Novell Groupwise and Lotus Domino mail servers, as well as POP3 online email services such as Yahoo! and Gmail. emoze is independent of network technology and works on any wireless GSM, CDMA or Wi-Fi network including 2.5G and 3G.

To simplify the installation of emoze on mobiles, a new installation method was added. Users can now get the applications wirelessly by accessing mobile.emoze.com on their mobile Internet browser, and following the instructions. For those who prefer to install emoze from their PC, the application can be downloaded here.
