The Autobots have already saved the world a few times but, from the looks of the new trailer for “Extinction,” the upcoming installment, the worst is yet to come. My guess is they will be up to the challenge though.

Paramount Pictures has released, as promised, a brand new trailer for Michael Bay’s fourth “Transformers” film, which will act as an expansion and a reboot of the franchise, standing separately from the previous 3 installments.

It includes footage we have already seen, like of how Mark Wahlberg’s character, a mechanic, accidentally comes across Optimus Prime and sets out to make him functional again, but also never before seen scenes.

One of them was also used for the poster that was unveiled the other day, of Optimus Prime riding one of the Dinobots while wielding what looks like a flaming sword.

In short, this trailer brings all the action and the drama but, since this is a Michael Bay movie, it also brings the fun. Given this director’s love of impossible action sequences and explosions, there could be no better universe for him to work with than that from Transformers – and it shows.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” will be released on June 27.
