As we've mentioned before, Philips' CES 2011 lineup was fairly OK, despite not providing any serious surprises, but rather some upgrades and updates to existing lineups, this being also the case with the Philips 5000 LCD Series of Full HD TVs, that we'll talk about as follows.

The 5000 Series is available in 40", 46" and 55" sizes, all of which are powered by the Pixel Precise HD Engine and sport an 120HZ refresh rate, as well as SRS TruSurround HD sound, for a complete and encompassing multimedia experience.

Similar to the other products in its 2011 Lineup, Philips has also added MediaConnect technology support to the 5000 Series LCDs, practically creating a fast and easy way of connecting one's PC or notebook to the HDTV.

Additional features include access to NetTV (that comes with VUDU, Facebook and Twitter support), as well as Netflix, Blockbuster and FilmFresh streaming, plus access to the Pandora online music service.

Practically, these connected TVs will grant users access to a wealth of online content, beside regular TV programs and without actually requiring them to hook up any additional STBs, unless they specifically desire to do so.

"The 5000 series give consumers limitless possibilities in viewing choices at an attainable price," said Todd Richardson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for P&F, exclusive licensee for Philips consumer televisions and home theaters in North America.

"With wireless connectivity, the integration of Philips MediaConnect and NetTV, consumers will have the ability to press one button and watch what they want on their TV, including a wealth of online content and HD video," Mr. Richardson added.

Sadly, pricing and availability details for the new 5000 LCD Series from Philips have not been provided, but we'll come back with more details on this topic as soon as they become available.
