Rockstar Games, while taking a break from teasing fans with Grand Theft Auto V, has released some more details about Max Payne 3 by premiering a video that takes an in-depth look at some of the mechanics and gameplay design choices from the new shooter.

Max Payne games have always delivered a cinematic experience instead of a pure shooter one, so the new game, which is out in March, 2012, will follow this recipe while bringing quite a lot of mechanics to the standard shooter gameplay that some players are already sick of.

The video below presents some of the systems that are used by the title, including targeting, movement or animation, and even clarifies some decisions that focus on enemy intelligence.

This clearly follows Rockstar's already famous development principle of bringing new things with each game, and the company's vice president of product development, Jeronimo Barrera has also revealed just how the new title will differentiate itself by placing a focus on strategy instead of just pure shooting, like Call of Duty or Battlefield titles.

"We wanted to encourage players to be strategic in their approach to combat spaces and not to rely on cover as simply a point to sit and regenerate health," Barrera told GameSpot. "Max Payne is about the beauty of the gunplay itself, in knowing when to launch yourself into an area, finding the right lines of attack, and perfecting bullet time kills. Regenerating health would have an impact on the game's natural rhythm."

Max Payne 3 will deliver the same cinematic single-player experience like previous titles, focusing on a new set of adventures that await the grizzled NYPD detective who has now moved to Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Besides the story, Rockstar is also going to include a multiplayer campaign that might have even some connections to the narrative.

Until March, when Max Payne 3 is going to be released, enjoy the video below.
