During an investor call held yesterday, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that his company is preparing a new Assassin's Creed game for the next fiscal year, which will start on April 1, 2011, and end on March 31, 2012.

When asked if a new Assassin's Creed game is planned, especially after the success of Assassin's Creed 2 and the big upcoming release of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood today, Guillemot revealed that the franchise will see "something" appear next year.

"There will be something around Assassin's - that's all we can say," revealed the Ubisoft CEO.

Even if there have been lots of talks about the next step in the Assassin's Creed franchise after the release of Brotherhood this week, Ubisoft has always dodged questions about the next title.

Ubisoft's Chief Financial Officer Alain Martinez revealed that the company won't comment, at least for now, on all these talks.

"We don't want to comment. Maybe after Christmas in January we'll be able to talk about what kind of product we have."

Assassin's Creed has become Ubisoft's biggest franchise, both in terms of sales and popularity, so you can bet that the company wants to keep it growing.

It has already expanded its story into other media, even releasing a live action short film that was a prequel for last year's Assassin's Creed 2.

Before Brotherhood was announced, many people believed that Ubisoft will finally take the action of the series into the modern era with a full pledged sequel, Assassin's Creed 3.

Instead, Brotherhood was revealed as the next part in the story started in the second game, with the same hero, Ezio Auditore, but with lots of new features, including multiplayer and a more streamlined story.

Stay tuned for more details about the next Assassin's Creed game in the following months.
