The first actual details about the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards have finally been revealed to the world, and it's safe to say that although many great games will compete for prizes, the real treats are the massive reveals that are scheduled to happen throughout the show.

The 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards will take place on December 10, and be aired by Spike TV, of course, as well as MTV2 and online on the Spike.com website.

While the contenders for the Game of the Year and the Most Anticipated Game categories have been revealed, which you can admire below, the most important details about the biggest reveals of the night have also arrived.

First up, it seems that a new Alan Wake game will be presented at the 2011 VGAs. Xbox Live community manager Larry Hryb quickly pointed out that this new experience will be a downloadable title, so don't expect the reveal of an Alan Wake 2 in December.

After that, BioWare is expected to reveal a project coming from a new team under its EA BioWare label, so you can expect the debut of a possible role playing title, although no other details have been presented.

Last but not least, the man behind the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima, will appear at the event and present the "truth" about the next project in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and when we might actually get to see it.

As many MGS fans can remember, Rising was presented back in 2009, and we've only seen a few glimpses of it until it was shrouded in a veil of secrecy by Konami and Kojima. As such, this reveal at the VGAs is going to shed some much needed light on the game.

Expect some other major announcements or trailers to be presented at the 2011 VGAs, but, until then, check out the nominees for the Game of the Year award, as well as the contenders for the Most Anticipated Game of 2012, for which you can vote by visiting this website.
