Since we are talking, after all, about one of the world's best-known CE manufacturers, it should come as no surprise that Philips brought a few interesting surprises at CES 2011, including some advanced, 3D-capable Blu-ray systems.

Beside their 3D Blu-ray playback capabilities, the new home theaters from Philips offer users access to the MediaConnect service (that allows consumers to wirelessly connect the PC to the TV for access to online multimedia content), as well as to the NetTV service, that lets users stream a very large number of HD TV channels from the Internet directly to their HDTVs.

And as if that wasn't enough, Netflix and Blockbuster streaming options are also available, making even more content readily available for the three new 3D Blu-ray home theater systems developed by Philips.

Moreover, they sport a revamped, sleeker and more visually attractive external design, wireless connectivity, as well as wireless rear speakers on certain models, as well as Dolby Digital and Pro Logic II technologies combined with 1,000 watts of total power and Deep Color technology.

"These home theater systems offer cinema-like picture quality, media streaming options and powerful surround sound for a true entertainment experience without ever leaving the couch," said Todd Richardson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for P&F, the exclusive manufacturer and distributor for Philips televisions and home theater systems in the U.S.

"The addition of Philips MediaConnect and NetTV give the added value of being able to view online content and movies on any TV, allowing consumers to upgrade their home theater without buying a new set", Mr. Richardson added.

The new line of Philips Blu-ray Home Theater systems will arrive in stores across the US in Q1 and Q2 2011, with pricing varying between $269.99 and $449.99, depending on the specific model and its features/characteristics.
