Only an error?

Some unusual things are going on over at Sony Ericsson with a Polish website publishing information regarding a smartphone, although there is no picture available. Nobody has ever heard of this R380e and it sounds pretty unusual and unlikely to actually be real.

The specifications appeared on the Sony Ericsson's website. It's extremely strange to see this happen, especially as the handset producer added no image to the specifications and never said a thing about a device coming out on the market with this name.

The most interesting thing is that the specifications posted are pretty evolved, which should make this a device worthy of more attention. The producer recommends this as being a mobile phone and organizer. It packs all the basic features of average mobile phones, such as email and SMS, along with a great management of personal contacts and calendar.

Still, there is something strange about this device. The website says it supports handwriting recognition, one of the most evolved features usually packed in smartphones and on-screen standard keyboard as well. This means that it uses the touchscreen technology that aroused everyone's interest until now.

Now here comes the unusual part. Sony Ericsson R380e comes only with WAP 1.2.1 for internet browsing. This means that this device has the most evolved technology in terms of display with touch sensitivity, but not a word on xHTML or WAP 2.0, the former being found even in less evolved devices.

Something certainly smells fishy, as the specifications are more than peculiar. Still, Sony Ericsson should have removed these specifications from its website by now if it was all actually an error. The device is still listed among the other major handsets coming from this producer. It's left to see whether the producer will choose to add a picture to this info or to remove it all.
