Astronaut Chris Hadfield captured yet another stunning photo

Mount Etna has been putting on a show lately, a scary show for those living nearby, but a spectacular one nonetheless. The recent eruption only resulted in stunning YouTube videos and not in any damage.

It's still going too, ISS astronaut Chris Hadfield managed to snap a photo of the volcano's plume seen from space.

The smoke and ash trail is clearly visible, despite the clouds, as it's pushed away by the winds. Etna is one of the most active volcanos in the world.

A good thing since the constant small eruptions mean that there won't be a big one, though there are no guarantees when it comes to volcanos.

If you're looking for a more scientific image of the eruption, NASA's Earth Observatory captured the one below shortly after the recent activity began.

It's a false color image combining shortwave infrared, near-infrared and the green portion of the visible spectrum. There's also a natural color version in the gallery.
