Introduced in China this month, Motorola XT531 has just made its appearance at Federal Communications Commission with AT&T's compatible GSM bands.

According to Motorola, the XT531 should be available in Hong Kong, Taiwan and select countries in Europe and Latin America starting this fall.

However, the phone will be released as Motorola FIRE XT in Europe and Motorola SPICE XT in Latin America.

Although the official announcement does not mention a release date for North America, we can assume that the Motorola XT531 will be available some time in September.

The documents filed at FCC mention that the smartphone supports UMTS / HSDPA 850MHz / 1900MHz, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

If the North American variant of the phone is similar when it comes to technical specs to the one announced in China and Europe, then the XT531 should be categorized as a mid-entry Android smartphone.

Motorola XT531 has a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and dual cameras for video capture.

In this regard it is worth mentioning that the XT531 comes with the Qik Video Connect service, which allows users to easily create videos and share them with friends in real-time.

The Qik app can also be used along with the front-facing camera for video chatting.

The smartphone is powered by the latest version of Google's operating system, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and provides users with access to more than 250,000 apps from the Android Market.

Motorola also stated that in some countries those who purchase the smartphone will be given unlimited access to SHOP4APPS.

Equipped with a single core 800MHz processor, the XT531 packs 512 MB on board memory, as well microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

According to the manufacturer, Motorola XT531 has best-in-class battery life, allowing users to talk for up to 8 hours or have 28 days of standby in 3G mode.
