South Korean mobile phone carrier SK Telecom is expected to make available for purchase on its airwaves Motorola's first tablet PC to run under Google's Android operating system, namely the Motorola XOOM.

The company should have the new device available on its network starting with April, and would be the only wireless services provider in the country to have the Motorola XOOM in its offering.

The new tablet PC would arrive on shelves with Google's new Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system version on board, as Motorola unveiled officially in early January, during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The Motorola XOOM is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 application processor, with dual cores clocked in at 1GHz each.

The new tablet PC comes to the market with a 10.1-inch widescreen HD display with multitouch capabilities, which would prove a great option when it comes to viewing movies or other multimedia content.

The specifications list of the new device would also include a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with video recording capabilities, along with a 2-megapixel front camera to enable video calling.

The new Android device would also come to the market with built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, and accelerometer, as well as with GPS receiver.

Sporting 3G connectivity options, the Motorola XOOM would also offer WiFi capabilities, as well as Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It sports a microSD memory card slot too, to enable users expand the available storage space.

According to a recent article on androidos.in, Sk Telecom won't carry only the Motorola XOOM, but it also aims at bringing to the local market LG's first tablet PC to run under the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, which was announced officially for the US market as the G-Slate.

Unfortunately, no specific info on when exactly would the Motorola XOOM be launched in South Korea emerged, nor on the price tag it would feature in the country.
