Malaysian carrier Maxis has recently confirmed that it has picked the first Honeycomb tablet available on the market, the Motorola XOOM

However, only the Wi-Fi version of the XOOM will be available in the country starting May 6.

Although the telecom operator has yet to disclose the tablet's price it seems that it is running a promotion that offers the Motorola DEFY along with the XOOM in a single package for RM 2,499 (about $845).

As the carrier stated, the current promotion will expire on May 22, so customers are left with a bit more than two weeks to take advantage of the offer from the moment the XOOM hits the shelves.

Malaysia is the second country in the region that introduces the Motorola XOOM, after it was officially launched in Singapore last week.

Currently, there's no word whether or not the 3G version of the tablet will be available in Malaysia anytime soon.

Up until now Motorola XOOM sales are a disappointment, but the U.S.-based handset maker hopes to cut its losses by lowering the tablet's price, as its rivals are starting to release their own tablets on the market.

With a huge 10.1-inch widescreen HD display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution the XOOM fully supports HD videos and movies.

It features a 2-megapixel front facing camera, as well as a 5-megapixel main camera on the back, which is also capable of capturing HD movies (720p@30fps).

Malaysian customers won't need any type of activation on Maxis network, but will still be able to take advantage of a wide range of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR support, as well as microUSB 2.0 and built-in GPS.

Motorola XOOM is equipped with one of the most powerful dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 AP20H processors, which offers an improved user experience on Android widgets, multi-tasking, browsing, gaming, as well as customization.
