Motorola has just announced that the Wi-Fi version of the XOOM will be available for purchase in India later this month.

Although no information about the tablet's suggested retail price has been disclosed, it is expected that the device will be sold for a similar price as the U.S. version.

The handset manufacturer avoided making any statements regarding the XOOM's exact release date, but rumors point to a possible launch in the last week of June.

This means that users will have to update to the latest Android 3.1 Honeycomb OTA (over-the-air) or via an update after the launch.

Motorola XOOM redefines what the tablet experience should be. Designed from the ground up with the consumer in mind, it provides more ways to have fun, connect with friends and stay productive while on the go,” said Rajan Chawla, Mobile Devices business country head for Sales and Operations, India and South West Asia, Motorola Mobility.

Equipped with a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1 GB of RAM, Motorola XOOM provides users with true multi-tasking functionality and the latest Google Mobile services on a 10.1 inch widescreen HD multi-touch display.

A 5-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of capturing HD video is also included, along with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that enables clear video chats using Google Talk.

The Motorola XOOM with Wi-Fi also features a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting.

Those interested to acquire the XOOM will be able to choose from several additional accessories especially designed to work with the tablet.

All these accessories are sold separately and include a Standard Dock ($49.95), a Speaker HD Dock ($129.95) and a custom keyboard with Bluetooth wireless technology and special Android shortcut keys ($69.95).
