Verizon Wireless and Motorola, Inc. announced on Wednesday the introduction of Motorola Rival on the carrier's offering. The handset comes to Verizon's users with easy messaging capabilities, offering them the possibility to stay socially connected, while also delivering a wide range of multimedia features, including V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video, Visual Voice Mail and support for VZ Navigator.

The new mobile phone comes to the carrier's lineup in two color schemes, Tin Silver or Purple, and boasts a backlit QWERTY keyboard that enables fast messaging, even when in dark conditions, includes the possibility to store up to 500 text messages in inbox and outbox, and provides instant connectivity with support for AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger with Mobile IM.

The new Motorola Rival also includes mobile email capabilities, allowing users to access popular e-mail services such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL and Windows Live, and comes with support for a wide range of Verizon's services, including the V CAST Music with Rhapsody, which offers access to more than 4 million songs that are available for download over the air. The VZ Navigator is also supported on the new device, delivering audible turn-by-turn directions and offering a database of more than 15 million points of interest, while also allowing users to share directions with their friends.

Besides the one-touch access to text message composition, emoticons, symbols, IM and e-mail capabilities of the phone, we should also mentioned that it comes with Visual Voice Mail, as well as with a 2.0 megapixel photo snapper, a 3.5 mm headset jack and a microSD memory card slot that allows for up to 8GB of additional storage space to be added into the equation.

The Motorola Rival can already be purchased from the Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and from the carrier's website at a price tag of $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the operator. Those who would like to use VZ Navigator will have to pay $2.99 for daily access, while the Visual Voice Mail costs $2.99 per month. The V CAST Music with Rhapsody comes with a price of $14.99 per month.
