Although Motorola MILESTONE 2 hasn't been officially introduced in India, the smartphone is available for purchase online for Rs. 20,999 (about $473). Online retailer LetsBuy claims they are able to deliver the device in 2-4 working days, along with a free 16GB microSD memory card.

The European version of the popular Motorola DROID 2 and the successor of the original MILESTONE, the smartphone was officially announced in September 2010 and initially distributed by Verizon.

MILESTONE 2 offers more power, more speed, with an improved keyboard, so users can send, access and share information even quicker than before to manage their work and personal life,” said at that time Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility.

One of the strong points of the MILESTONE 2 at launch was the fact that it was released with the Android 2.2 platform installed.

Spec-wise, the MILESTONE 2 is powered by a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX530 GPU, and packs 512 MB RAM, as well as 8GB of storage.

Unlike other markets where the phone is delivered with a 2GB memory card, Indian customers will receive a 16GB memory card that can be used with the included microSD card slot.

The phone also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash and camcorder (720p@30fps).

WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity are also included in the package, as well as 3.5mm audio jack, DLNA function, Enterprise Exchange support, or the full suite of the Google applications: Google Search, Google Maps with Latitude and Street View, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Talk.

Motorola's MOTOBLUR solution is also integrated and offers users a variety of widgets which combine various social networking portals such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter as well as news or weather reports, all in one place.

Once Motorola makes the official announcement, the MILESTONE 2 is expected to be available for purchase at more authorized retailers.
