Motorola announced that it will launch two new low-budget Android smartphones in Taiwan, in cooperation with Taiwanese operator Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), Motorola Quench MB501 and Quench XT3. Leaked a few months ago as Motorola Greco, the smartphone has been tagged as Quench XT3 and is now ready for shipping in Taiwan.

Unfortunately, the device doesn't look impressive at all, looking at its spec sheet. Initially, rumored as an Android 2.1 device, the entry-level Motorola Quench XT3 comes with a disappointing Android version 1.6 operating system. Further, there's no info about a possible upgrade in the future, which leads us to believe that the smartphone will not benefit from a comprehensive software support.

Some of the key features of Motorola Quench XT3 includes: a 3.2-inch HVGA (320 x 480 resolution) touch screen, 3-megapixel built-in camera, Qualcomm MSM 7227 600MHz processor, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, GPS built-in receiver, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth connectivity, and microS card slot (up to 32GB). Except the operating system, which might be considered obsolete, the device has pretty decent features for an entry-level Android smartphone.

The other Motorola handset launched together with Quench XT3, the Quench MB501 was also launched in other markets under the name of Motorola Cliq XT. Both Android phones, the Quench MB501 and Quench XT3, are supposed to be available starting this August from Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), while the former will also be distributed by two more service providers, Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Mobile.

There's no certain information regarding Motorola's Quench XT3 price, but we can guess this is not going over $200 USD, without contract. Much better offerings are possible for those that opt for subscription, especially that we're talking about a low-budget smartphone.
