DROID Pro users will be happy to find that Motorola has decided to address some of the issues discovered since the smartphone's launch, back in November 2010.

While this is not the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update, it does have some fixes for Exchange email, and adds data encryption for the built-in storage and the SD card.

Unfortunately, Motorola states that not every issue identified has been addressed with this maintenance software update, so DROID Pro owners should expected more updates in the near future.

To receive the update users will have to go to Menu / Settings / About phone and tap on the System updates option.

To avoid extra data charges make sure the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot and that the phone's battery charge is at least at 50%.

As soon as the update is installed users will experience the following improvements:

- improved ease of account set up and delivery of messages; - syncing of account information, Wi-Fi access to external corporate networks, accuracy of 3G Mobile; - device and SD card encryption; - Hotspot status, calendar events and contacts; - V-Cast now comes pre-loaded.

Support for additional ActiveSync policies settable by Microsoft Exchange Server Admin has also been introduced:

- Require manual synchronization while roaming; - Allow HTML E-mail; - Attachments enabled; - Maximum attachment size; - Maximum calendar age filter; - Maximum e-mail age filter; - Maximum HTML e-mail body truncation size; - Maximum e-mail body truncation size.

In addition, global customers can now re-register on non-CDMA networks after Airplane mode is exited and Bluetooth devices will now select the correct audio recording level for optimal voice capture and alert you when your audio level is too low.

With the new update, users will be able to set a proxy server in Wi-Fi settings so they can access external HTTP/HTTPS sites when camped on corporate Wireless.
