Comes with a new version of MOTOBLUR

One of the new handsets that should soon make an appearance on Verizon Wireless' airwaves is the Motorola DROID 2, the successor of the highly popular Motorola DROID. The handset made it into the wild a few times before, and we even had the chance to take a look at its activation screen a couple of days ago, but this time photos of the entire phone are available, including its sliding QWERTY, in addition to a video that shows its boot animation.

A quick look at the phone shows that it resembles a lot its predecessor, the DROID. However, the QWERTY keyboard is different than DROID's one, lacking the large gold D-pad. The appearance of the device seems smoother, while the battery cover lacks the fingernail insert. The images published by Droid-Life speak for themselves, that's for sure.

A great deal of changes can be observed when it comes to the internal circuitry. The phone is powered by a 750MHz OMAP processor, boasts 8GB of internal memory and comes with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, with an 8GB SD card pre-installed (it should probably support cards of up to 32GB).

The touchscreen display of Motorola DROID 2 is reportedly measuring 3.7-inch, and should bring to life a new version of the MOTOBLUR user interface. The handset should also include a 5-megapixel photo snapper, well as Wi-Fi tethering capabilities, and other features more, though specific details are lacking at the moment. What it won't arrive to the market with, it seems, includes an HDMI port and a front-facing camera.

The second DROID from Motorola should be released with Android 2.1 on board, though Android 2.2 Froyo might arrive soon enough on it. Unfortunately, no specific release date for the device has emerged so far, though previous reports suggested it might land at Verizon in July, accompanied by another Android phone from Motorola, the DROID Xtreme.
