Mobile phone maker Motorola has announced today the launch of Motorola DEVOUR with MOTOBLUR on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, the second Android-based mobile phone that is delivered to the US market via this carrier. According to the company, the new device is expected to become available for purchase in March, and will become the first Motorola phone in Verizon's lineup to also include the MOTOBLUR solution.

Among the key specs of the new mobile phone, we can count a touch-sensitive navigation pad, along with the 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth connectivity with support for profiles like A2DP, HID, HSP, HFP, AVRCP and GAP, microSD memory card slot with an 8 GB microSD card pre-installed, as well as a long list of pre-loaded applications, including Gmail, Google Talk, YouTube, Google Search and Google Maps with Google Maps Navigation, not to mention the possibility to download and install even more software solutions via the Android Market.

Other features of the Motorola DEVOUR also include: - Happenings Widget – MOTOBLUR automatically pushes status updates, wall posts and photo updates from popular social networking sites to the Happenings Widget on the home screen. Customers can flick through the latest updates and fire back responses using the slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. - Universal Inbox – MOTOBLUR gathers texts, social network messages and e-mails into one home screen widget for quick response. - Back-Up and Security – Contacts, log-in information, home screen customizations, e-mail and social network messages are backed up automatically on the secure MOTOBLUR portal. The portal also allows customers to use the phone’s fully integrated aGPS to help locate the phone if misplaced. Remote wipe easily clears information from a lost device.

According to Motorola, its MOTOBLUR solution specifically designed for Android devices offers syncing of contacts from work and personal e-mail services, such as Gmail, with posts, messages and more directly from social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The solution will come to Verizon's customers on Motorola DEVOUR upon the signing of a contract agreement on a Nationwide Talk or Nationwide Talk & Text plan and a Data Package for smartphones.
