Motorola DEVOUR, the second Android-based mobile phone from Motorola available for purchase on Verizon Wireless' networks, is set to receive a software update during the ongoing week. It won't bring along a new version of the operating system, although users might be expecting for one, but it will come as a welcome maintenance update, that's for sure.

A recent post on Android Central shows that the new software solution for the Motorola DEVOUR smartphone with MOTOBLUR will come as firmware version CALAND_X_01.15.08P, and that Verizon and Motorola have included a wide range of enhancements with it. These improvements affect the overall device performance, but are also focused on email and calendar and on the audio capabilities of the handset, it seems.

The list of changes brought by the new software reportedly includes: - Improved response time when menu, home and back keys are pressed - Adjustments to improve the accuracy of signal strength indicators on the display - Stability improvements made to browser, contacts and VCAST Music with Rhapsody applications - Improvements for incoming call performance - Volume keys now function with the Mobile IM application - Improvements made to ensure pictures are uploaded in the correct orientation - Improved functionality to allow users to more easily delete POP3 email accounts - Changed display when setting new email accounts - Enhanced Exchange ActiveSync Calendar agenda view to show meeting titles - Verizon.net email accounts will now auto-configure - Overall improvements to ringer, voice dialing application, and multimedia audio when using a headset - Updated versions of Google applications

As one can read above, a nice range of enhancements are on its way to the Motorola DEVOUR. For the time being, these improvements should do, as there are no details available on when a new OS flavor might arrive on the device. Motorola has recently updated its Android 2.1 roll-out plans, but DEVOUR was left out of the time table, at least for the moment. Stay tuned for more info on this.
