Mobile phone maker Motorola has brought another Android-based handset to the market in India, namely the Motorola CHARM, which was launched in the country via wireless carrier Airtel featuring a price tag of Rs 13,990 (MRP: Rs 15,990).

The Android 2.1 powered QWERTY device sports a candybar form factor, as well as a touchscreen display, and offers support for additional storage space via a microSD memory card slot (a 2 GB removable MicroSD included in the package).

At Aircel, the handset will be accompanied with 1 GB per month data download for 6 months upon the signing of a contract agreement with the wireless carrier. To activate this offer, users would have to SMS ‘SMART PI’ to 54343 from their Aircel number.

For prepaid customers, the company put in place an offer than includes 9GB of download that can be consumed in 3 months, in addition to providing them with 150 minutes Aircel to Aircel local calls. The offer can be activated via the nearest Aircel Store.

The specifications list of Motorola CHARM includes a 2.8-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA) resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass display to offer resistance to impact and scratch damage.

The new Android-based mobile phone also includes a 3-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus and video recording capabilities, as well as support for various multimedia applications, including Music Player, or Integrated YouTube (users can also stream FM and Internet radio).

Motorola CHARM can be used on 3G networks, and also offers support for Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, or USB 2.0 (High Speed). A 3.5 mm headphone jack was included into the mix too, as well as GPS receiver.

The features list of this device also includes support for email (including Gmail, IMAP, POP3), MMS, SMS, IM, or social networking sites.

As stated above, the handset runs under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, which offers support for various services from the Internet giant, as well as for a wide range of applications available for download via the Android Market.
