Motorola has announced its MOTODEV Game Development Challenge, a competition for independent mobile developers. The competition's purpose it to discover 'the Next Big Thing' when it comes to mobile gaming.

The ones who want to participate will need to submit an unpublished title for the Java-based ultra-slim MOTOKRZR K1 or the Windows Mobile powered MOTO Q.

Each of the two categories will boast a Grand Prize Winner and Runner-up Winner. Of course, winners will be greatly rewarded.

The runner-up prize package will include a one-on-one consultation with each of the judges for market and channel feedback, the promotion of the application in the MOTODEV community, a briefcase of hot new Moto products and iPlay's hottest titles, a Grand Prize Winner's plaque commemorating the engineering achievement and 'bragging rights'.

And for the Grand prize winner it can only get better. He / She will get all of the above as well as a publishing contract with iPlay.

The games will be judged on several criteria including uniqueness, fun factor, design, operation and innovation in visual arts and audio, by a judging pannel comprised of a diverse and experienced group of industry insiders.

Each participant will be able to submit any number of different, original and unpublished games in each of the two categories. In order to participate in the challenge you must be a MOTODEV member and submit your game/games until the 10th of August this year.

The winners, selected by the pannel of judges, will be announced this autumn. Iplay is sponsoring the contest and will publish the winning game from each of the two categories.
