Motorola and Google plan on making the new Moto X smartphone available for purchase through the official Play Store portal too, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

However, it seems that the handset won’t be launched through the storefront as a Google Edition handset, the same as HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 were.

According to Twit.tv, Motorola’s Guy Kawasaki has confirmed that the smartphone will become available for purchase through the Play store with all the software enhancements that have already been announced for it.

Provided that Motorola launched a Google Edition of the device, users would have enjoyed the stock Android experience on it, as on the other two smartphones mentioned above.

Instead, they will be able to take advantage of the small enhancements that Moto X was unveiled with, including Active Display notifications UI, Moto Assist, and Moto Connect, as talkandroid notes.
