Beside the Vulkano Flow streaming solution we've talked about earlier today, Monsoon Multimedia had another interesting product in store, namely the Vulkano Blast, that can really be described as an “universal entertainment box”, given the multiple playback, recording and streaming features it provides. According to the people over at Monsoon Multimedia, the Vulkano Blast integrates DVR feature (recording on the built-in 160GB HDD), web video, TV Anywhere, Universal Plug and Play streaming (UPnP), Mobile Video Recording and more.

Much in the same way as the Flow model, the Blast allows users to watch TV and web video content from anywhere in the world, as well as view personal content on the TV from a variety of video sources, from video cameras to smartphones.

Moreover, as pointed above, Vulkano Blast can replace multiple set-top boxes such as TiVo, Slingbox and Roku, which means that one's home entertainment system will instantly become a lot less crowded.

Additionally, the device will allow users to easily schedule TV recording by show, channel or date and time, browse the electronic program guide (EPG) for shows and episode descriptions, but also get content from UPnP supported devices.

Plus, it's also very versatile, since it can stream video at H.264 and MPEG-4 standards at rates as low as 150kbps.

"The Vulkano Blast allows consumers to access their live, recorded or archived content anytime, anywhere. Today's consumers want access to their content instantly and we are dedicated to bringing this to them at an affordable price," said Colin Stiles, EVP Sales and Marketing at Monsoon.

Another very important thing worth mentioning here is the fact that the Vulkano Blast from Monsoon Multimedia is actually a lot more affordable than most of the products it replaces (not to mention their overall, combined value), as it will sels for just around 199 US dollars starting with January 2011.
