MobileMe Gallery, the iOS application allowing MobileMe subscribers to easily view photos and movies on their iPhone or iPod touch, has been updated to support downloads for higher-resolution images on iPhone 4 when connected to a Wi-Fi network, and to fix various bugs, Apple announced. The update was necessary thanks to the new phone’s Retina Display, capable of outputting video at 326 ppi (960-by-640-pixel resolution).

“Just enter your MobileMe member name and password to see a list of your published albums and movies”, reads Apple’s description for MobileMe Gallery on iTunes. The company proceeds to explain to customers how the software is meant to be used, saying “A scrolling sampler at the top of the app gives you easy access to recent photos. Select an album with a tap and then flick back and forth through photos, pinch to zoom, or rotate your iPhone to landscape view. MobileMe Gallery app automatically stores photos you’ve viewed, so you can view them again even if you don’t have a network connection. To view a friend’s gallery, simply choose their name from your contacts or enter their MobileMe member name and you’ll get instant access to their publicly shared photos, too.”

Typical to any iOS application living in the iTunes App Store, a list of key features is then provided, such as the ability to view your entire gallery including password protected and hidden albums, or abilities like: flick through photos and pinch to zoom in for more detail; rotate device to see photos in landscape; view friends’ gallery photos and movies; and options to access previously viewed photos when offline, as well as to share a link to an album from iPhone.

The software is localized in English, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, according to its developers. It requires any iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.1 or later, as well as a MobileMe subscription.
