Last year, while performing at the American Music Awards, produced and aired on ABC, Adam Lambert got a little carried away and kissed one of his male backup dancers. He had to face serious backlash because of it, including seeing his appearance on Good Morning America (also an ABC show) canceled because he was deemed too much of a risk to take so early in the morning.

Yet, when Miley Cyrus does the same, the network has no problem with it, TMZ says. The Disney singer mimed planting a smooch on a female dancer while performing her latest single, “Can’t Be Tamed,” on a recent edition of Britain’s Got Talent. Had this been Lambert, he would have been banned from GMA again, but Miley was not, the aforementioned e-zine says. Sadly, this is sending the wrong message to audiences, while also showing that, when it comes to orientation, ABC does discriminate.

“Miley Cyrus is no Adam Lambert... at least according to Good Morning America. After simulating a girl-on-girl kiss while on Britain’s Got Talent two weeks ago, the 17-year-old pop sensation performed on GMA today. Interesting move... considering they banned Adam Lambert from performing back in November after he kissed a male band member on the American Music Awards. Translation: [Straight] underage female singer simulating a [gay] kiss = good. Gay male singer actually kissing a man = bad,” TMZ says, sparing no words in accusing ABC of double standards and discrimination.

Then again, maybe the network sees things the way Miley also does: the simulated kiss was nothing to be offended by. “I feel like the entertainment industry has become nothing but a disgusting tabloid. I performed Can’t Be Tamed this week on one of my favorite shows here in the UK Britain’s Got Talent. Which is totally true, there were some amazinnnggg acts (but of course no one could focus on that.) I had such a blast and was so honored to be on that stage. That being said during my performance I supposedly ‘KISSED A GIRL’ and this is the newest thing to cause controversy. I promise you I did not kiss her and it is ridiculous that two entertainers cant even rock out with each other without the media making it some type of story. I really hope my fans are not disappointed in me because the truth is I did nothing wrong,” Miley was saying shortly after the so-called kiss.

There are many other, way more important things the media should focus on instead of who she kisses and why she does it. As far as she was concerned, she was out to express herself freely as an artist and she was not about to let negativity in the media stop her from doing so, she also said at the time.
