Delete it if you have downloaded it

Midnight Club Los Angeles is one of the most recent racing games out there, promising to bring some truly adrenaline-filled races on the streets of the famous North American city. Developed by Rockstar, the game was launched in October last year and it enjoyed some pretty decent sales, with fans choosing it over the latest iteration in the Need For Speed franchise, Undercover.

We reported a while ago that the popular racing game would also receive some brand new content via download over the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network online systems, which would add a massive chunk of new territory to explore. Entitled South Central Upgrade And Content Pack, the DLC would offer racers the South Central Los Angeles area, which is about one third of the actual map in the original version, filled with races and new events.

The pack was scheduled to arrive in early 2009, but it seems that Xbox 360 owners spotted it on their Xbox Live Marketplace, available for free, although two versions were supposed to go live, one without races, offering just the map, and one, priced of course, that brought the map plus all of the new events. It now seems that the DLC appeared by mistake, as Graeme Boyd, a community manager for Xbox Live, declared that users who downloaded it had to delete it because it wasn't stable.

“The Marketplace team has mentioned to me that a batch of Midnight Club: LA content went up accidentally on Xbox LIVE Marketplace this morning,” said Boyd. “It has since been removed, but you may have had the chance to download it while it was up there. If you did and if it's sitting on your hard drive you should delete it – reason being that it was being tested when it was mistakenly put live and therefore it may not work properly, the Achievements won't register and could cause you problems with your Midnight Club: LA game saves.”

He then went on to apologize and stated that when the real DLC pack would go live every user would know about it and would be able to download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace. “Sorry for the mistake and sorry for the hassle, but if you did download the content best thing to do is delete it. I'll let you know when it's up for real!”

Although it might have seemed like a wish come true for a lot of gamers, because it isn't a stable release everyone who got a chance to download it should delete it and wait for the official word from Rockstar and Microsoft before they go and grab it.
