It appears that Redmond is planning to fix a critical bug in the SP3 on Patch Tuesday

It's not a secret anymore that the Surface Pro 3 is hit the by same limited Wi-Fi connectivity bugs as its predecessors and, while Microsoft hasn't talked too much about it until now, it appears that a fix is coming.

A company employee told us that next week's Patch Tuesday, which will bring a total of six fixes for Internet Explorer and Windows, will also include some updates specifically designed for SP3 buyers. While we can't confirm that these patches are indeed supposed to address the limited Wi-Fi issue, the same Softie told us that there are “90 percent chances to do that.”

The Surface Pro 3 was officially unveiled on May 20 with much fanfare, while shipments officially started in mid-July. Even though it's quite an expensive device, with the top-of-the-range model available for $1,949 (€1,450), many rushed to purchase it, but discovered that it comes with some Wi-Fi connectivity bugs that make it impossible to browse the web after resuming from stand-by.

The issue has already been confirmed by many of our readers and some have even pointed out that they are ready to return their tablets if Microsoft doesn't fix this soon, which is living proof that Redmond doesn't have much time to address it.

Here's a message we received last night from one of our readers and a SP3 buyer:

“100% true. The machine is completely useless. About 1 out of 4 times, during sleep either restarts itself (ie. I try to wake it up only to see that in fact it was a restart). And, 1 out of 4 times, it does wake up, but internet (wireless) is not present. (the machine can't even see the wireless device). And, if it ever does wake up properly, then I find that there's a huge battery drain. Did these guys even run the very most basic of tests? How, tell me how, can MS be so bad? This is 3rd gen. product. And it's garbage.”

Luckily, this isn't a hardware issue, but more of a software bug that can be fixed with a firmware update. Since Patch Tuesday is happening next week, these rumors make sense, so keep an eye on Windows Update to make sure that you get any fix that might be released for your tablet.

In the meantime, you can also try turning off and back on the Wi-Fi, rebooting the tablet, or reinstalling the Wi-Fi adapter drivers to see if that works for you.
