Xbox 360 Core all the way, for the company's officials

Microsoft's UK marketing manager for the Xbox 360 hardware, Dan Cornelius talked about the competition on the console market on MCV's site, mentioning the advantages of the Xbox 360 console. He mentioned that Sony plunges the noob gamers into fresh technology like Blu-ray or wireless gaming, without giving them any other choice. Unlike the PS3, the 360 Core manages to provide the console experience that most of the gamers are looking for, without having to adjust to the newest technologies.

According to Dan Cornelius, you'll only have to upgrade when you want to, as opposed to Sony's way of forcing you to buy and use its upgrades. The marketing manager also said that one of the major advantages of the Xbox 360 Core is its price, less than half the amount of money you'll have to pay for a PS3. That's quite a bargain if you ask me! The problem is that the Core version doesn't include a hard disk, so there's no way that you'll be browsing the Xbox Live Marketplace searching for demos, as there's no storage space to keep them.

If Microsoft's above-mentioned representative seemed confident about the company's domination over Sony, he was less enthusiastic when discussing the Wii's domination. He reminded the Nintendo fans that the Xbox 360 Core is a more powerful console, available at the same price point as the Wii and hinted towards a great sales figure at Christmas time. It's obvious that one of Microsoft's representatives knows about the Wii's top sales so Cornelius admitted that Nintendo's product sells well, by saying that it's "tapping into a different consumer".

That's what the Xbox's producers is trying right now, by teaming up with Square Enix and setting up a few exclusive RPG releases in order to make the 360 more popular in Japan. We'll probably see the console wars starting again at Christmas time, the only victims being the hardcore gamers who'll have to choose between next-gen gaming devices.
