As I’m sure you know, Microsoft launches temporary software sub-categories in the Windows Store every once a while, trying to promote some specific apps by giving them more exposure.

This time, the company has used its official blog to showcase the news apps that could “make you look even smarter,” as they provide access to news content from all over the world.

The official apps of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and NBC are all presented in the blog post, along with a few lines of text supposed to show everybody that Windows 8 can deliver great content in the MetroUI.

“These news apps not only deliver content efficiently, they also make consuming the news a pleasurable and aesthetically pleasing experience. Even without that papery rustle,” the blog post reads.
