New deals are being made

The current state of PC gaming isn't the best, but with the PC Gaming Alliance posting decent revenues and more and more companies joining the non-profit organization, things are looking up. Also, we've seen two of the biggest online services for the old platform, Steam and Games for Windows Live, receive new features among which the anti-piracy measures hold the top spot.

Even though Microsoft presented the fresh features that would arrive to its service, a lot of people began to wonder why the Redmond giant hadn't published more titles for this platform. Some of the latest PC titles created by the company were just ports of successful games for the original Xbox and Xbox 360, like Halo 2 or Gears of War. But new things will come from Microsoft, as Games for Windows' Dave Luehmann told Gamasutra.

“We've got several titles in development right now, both internally developed and with external partners. We're here at GDC negotiating another [sic] deals, and we're here at GDC looking for other content partners. I'd say our position in Windows over the last six months has gone from a steady state, to a dip from a point of view of the press, but realistically we're putting more money into Windows games than we have in quite a while.”

So, it seems that Microsoft will take PC gaming much more seriously and at least try to bring new stuff to the platform. Hopefully, some PC ports of Fable II, Gears of War 2 or Halo 3 might appear in the near future, despite the statements made by quite a lot of people who worked on the titles that they would not arrive on the aforementioned platform.

All we can do now is cross our fingers and hope that the Games for Windows Live service will receive fresh games that we can all enjoy.
