The next-generation Windows Mobile 7 operating system from Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has been confirmed once again to be set for an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. Microsoft has been mum until now on this platform iteration, yet they said a few times before that we're to learn more on the future of Windows Mobile during the next month, and now Windows Mobile 7 has been named specifically for an MWC appearance.

Microsoft CFO Peter Klein is the one who said in a recent interview with Fox news (via WMPoweruser) that the OS would be unveiled at MWC the next month: Fox News: “Are we going to see Windows 7 Mobile come out in 2010? What is your plans for that?” Peter Klein: “We are heads down working on Windows Mobile 7 and we will have much more to say about that at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.” Some of the latest reports around the Internet also pointed towards a Windows Mobile 7 announcement at the upcoming event in Spain, and the same applies to the recently announced two financial analyst meetings from Microsoft, both of which are related to Windows Mobile. If there were some who still had doubts, Peter Klein's sayings should confirm that Microsoft will finally give us a glimpse of Windows Mobile 7 next month.

However, even if this matter has been already settled, there are still no details on what Microsoft will unveil regarding Windows Mobile 7 at the MWC shows in Barcelona. There have been a long list of rumors regarding the features that the next-gen operating system will come around with, including Zune and Xbox integration, new touch features, non-gesture support, Silverlight integration and more, but little confirmation came on these until now.

One thing that seems to be shaping up as soon to be unveiled too is the integration of Windows Mobile with Zune. A recently performed Zune update has brought to light info on support for a Zune phone, as well as for two previously rumored Pink Phones, Pure and Turtle. One way or the other, there are great chances that all will go official in about two weeks from now on, so stay tuned to learn additional details.
