Michelle Williams' biggest challenge is yet to come: after portraying Marilyn Monroe in a new film, “My Week with Marilyn,” she has to hear from the fans and the critics, upon release. The thought almost drove her to back out of the film.

Michelle taped an interview with Ellen DeGeneres just recently and, among the topics she discussed was also that of taking on such a bold project as a movie on Marilyn is.

The actress says she was terrified about the idea, because she knew the film would generate a lot of debate and because she didn't feel like she was up for the part, as the video below will confirm.

She also reveals she didn't share a special “bond” with Marilyn, in the sense that she didn't dream of playing her when she first started out in the industry.

She did have, however, a photo of her in room, so it's not like she didn't look up to the “ultimate blonde,” she says.

The hardest part, Michelle underlines, wasn't accepting the part in the film, but dealing with the consequences of saying yes to it.

“As soon as I said yes [to the role], I spent the next six months trying to talk myself out of it because it was just so daunting,” the actress tells Ellen when asked if she studied a lot for the part and did her research.

“I was never really a very good student. I didn’t go to school for a terribly long time. I think I’m making up for it now. I worked so hard,” the actress says.

“I read all the books. I watched the movies. I was obsessed with her. I woke up with her every morning and I went to bed with her every night, in a way,” she adds.

As we also informed you a while back, “My Week with Marilyn” tells the story of an alleged romance between the star and one of Laurence Olivier's assistants.

It also stars Emma Watson and Kenneth Branagh but, most certainly contrary to studio expectations, it's gotten mixed reactions from fans, with many saying shortly after the release of the trailer that Williams didn't have it in her to play Marilyn.
