14 DAY TRIAL // Before estranged former wife Dina Lohan has a chance of taking control over everything that belongs to Lindsay, the actress’ father, Michael Lohan, is making the necessary moves to have a conservatorship in place.
As we also informed you the other day, the troubled star is reportedly back in rehab, where she admitted herself of her own will, realizing that she needed professional help for her drug addiction.
While she’s in rehab, her mother plans to have her put under a conservatorship just like it happened to Britney Spears as well a few years back, Michael has been telling the media.
Dina’s aim in doing so is not to have whatever is left of Lindsay’s money put aside and to prevent her from spending like crazy, but to get to spend her fortune herself, Michael believes.
So, in a pre-emptive strike, Michael is taking the necessary steps to do to Lindsay what he accuses Dina of wanting to do, TMZ has learned.
In other words, Michael is seeing attorneys to have a conservatorship drafted so that, when the star is out of rehab, he can literally take over every aspect of her life, from her finances to her career.
“Michael met with attorney David Chon today and will hire him to file conservatorship papers... Chon specializes in trusts and estates,” TMZ reports.
Nevertheless, Mr. Lohan is well aware that the judge may know the tense relationship he has with his daughter (Lindsay has practically disowned him at least a couple of times), so he’s very careful about where he’s treading.
“We’re told Michael has enough sense to know the judge isn’t going to make him the conservator, so he has two other people in mind... though he’s not saying who,” the same media outlet has learned.
“Michael is saying he doesn’t want Dina Lohan or Lindsay’s business manager, Lou Taylor, to handle Lindsay’s affairs because ‘they’re in it for themselves’,” TMZ writes.
At the same time, Michael claims Dina and Lou are trying to shut him out of Lindsay’s life – this time by doing more than just feeding her lies.
“Our sources say Michael plans on filing a petition for conservatorship ‘within days’,” TMZ adds.
If Dina too is thinking of taking a similar step, she will probably file her own petition very soon. She may also issue a statement regarding Michael’s motives – which means Lindsay’s rehab absence could turn into a genuine battle over her money.
