Mobile phone carrier MetroPCS was rumored not too long ago to be on its way to bring to the market an Android-based smartphone that would connect with its LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, and that device might have just leaked into the wild, it seems. The LTE-capable Android mobile phone for MetroPCS was rumored to come from South Korean handset vendor Samsung, and the device that can be admired in the photos attached to this article might be exactly that device, the Samsung Forte.

There are no specific details available on whether the new device is indeed the previously leaked R910, but the rumored specs for the Forte seem to match those for the said handset.

For example, the Samsung Forte, which is a sliding device, hiding a QWERTY keyboard beneath that touchscreen display on its front, is said to run under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system flavor, something in line with what was learned on R910 too.

Moreover, rumor has it that the upcoming device would pack a fast 1GHz Hummingbird application processor inside, which should offer it a lot of raw power.

The specifications list of Forte would also include Samsung's TouchWiz UI on top of that Android platform, along with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Moreover, the handset should arrive on shelves with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space. Not info on other specs of the mobile phone emerged for the time being.

According to Samsung Hub, there is the possibility that the Samsung Forte would receive Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the near future, if not at launch, at least soon after, but confirmation on this hasn't emerged either.

The news site also notes that, while the Forte and R910 seem to resemble a lot, suggesting that they might actually be one and the same device, there is also the possibility that they are two different handsets, both set to land at MetroPCS in the near future.
