“Women are a little misguided” about weight training, Mena Suvari says

Pint-sized Mena Suvari has, without a doubt, always been in great shape, but it’s only in recent months that she has finally discovered she too can have the kind of toned body she always wanted. Thanks to trainer Daniella Frita, whom she met a little more than four months ago, the actress is now in the best shape of her life and, even better, willing to share her secret with the fans via an interview with Us Magazine.

Most women avoid lifting weights when they go to the gym and this is one of the biggest mistakes they could make, Mena says. Living under the misconception that weight training will only build more muscle, which, in turn, will make them lose their femininity, many women are missing out on the benefits of this particular exercise routine, the star believes.

“Women need to not be afraid of lifting weights because they help you be toned.” Mena says for Us Magazine. Until not long ago, she too thought that lifting weights was not the thing for her, but all that came to change when she met Frita, who acts as her body double on “You May Not Kiss the Bride,” the film Mena is currently shooting. Since then, she’s been hitting the gym religiously, doing yoga and lifting weights and, dare we say it, she looks incredible, judging only by the photos that have surfaced this summer with her on vacation at the beach.

“I walked up to her [Frita] one day and I said, ‘Okay, just break it down for me. I want to know everything you are doing.’ Ever since then, she’s been sending me workout plans and nutritional plans and I’ve been working with her for about four and a half months. I’ve been working out in so many different areas my whole life but I learned so much from her and it’s so inspiring. I go to the gym and I see women who are a little misguided.” the actress adds.

Working out doesn’t have to be a chore – in fact, according to Mena, it shouldn’t be a chore. “In this day and age, we all need to be inspired to be the best we can be and stay healthy.” the actress concludes by saying.

Mena has been looking amazing lately and she is so right, buff chicks are so much better looking than the waifs. The waif look was invented by gay fashion moguls. Straight men like healthy strong women who can squat two hundred pounds and have hard abs and asses, like Mena does now and Jessica Biel. They're just so much more fun in bed! You go girl.
