Electronic Arts has announced that it will be releasing a Limited Edition version for its first person shooter Medal of Honor. The video game is set to be launched on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC on October 15 in North America and three days earlier on the European market. Electronic Arts is saying that the newly announced Limited Edition will cost the same as the normal edition.

Players who pick up this version of Medal of Honor will get exclusive access to the MP7, a short barreled sub machine gun that can fire armor piercing bullets in real life. Those who get the Limited Edition of the first person shooter will also get immediate access to other weapons, the TOZ-194 and the 870MC2. Normally they would only be available after players level up and get access to weapon unlocks.

Greg Goodrich, who is the executive producer of Medal of Honor, stated when the Limited Edition was announced that “Access to a weapon like the MP7 will allow players to experience a tool developed with the Special Operations Community in mind. With its light weight, high rate of fire and its ability to penetrate body armor, the MP7 handles like a pistol yet allows targets to be engaged like a rifle.”

Medal of Honor is being revived as a series this year by publisher Electronic Arts, with studio EALA handling the single player component of the game and with DICE working on the multiplayer element of the video game. The franchise is taking a big step forward and moving out of World War II in order to use the modern conflict in Afghanistan as the backdrop for missions involving the top tier of Special Forces operators. Electronic Arts is hoping that the new FPS it is launching will sell better than Call of Duty: Black Ops.
