Hot on the heels of yesterday's first batch of new details for Max Payne 3, we now know a few more things about the technology that will be used by the game's developer, Rockstar, and how the company sent a few of its members to Sao Paolo, Brazil, in order to document the location and the setting of the game's action.

Max Payne 3, after a lengthy period of silence, has just received its first new details yesterday, courtesy of an exclusive reveal from Edge magazine.

The publication has now posted a few more details about Max Payne 3 from Rockstar Art Director Rob Nelson.

The developer talked about how the company sent a few of its members to Sao Paolo, in Brazil, where the action of the actual game would take place, in order to really document the city and be able to fully recreate it in the virtual title.

"We saw a lot of diverse environments that we could stick [Max Payne] in," Rob Nelson told Edge. "It's a huge city and there's a major disparity between rich and poor. Learning about that, finding out how massive the place is, has been fascinating. We can't really re-use a lot of assets. Every stage is going to be different from the last one. Brazil is a fascinating place to set a game - there are plenty of unique aspects to the setting that we'll reveal over time. We've got a lot to work with."

Speaking of the technology used in the game, Nelson confirmed that the company is once again using the Euphoria physics engine, seen in Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, which will seriously improve in the gameplay of the title over the much-older games released up until now in the series.

"Euphoria is really helpful in making those situations feel natural, rather than having Max crash into things and ragdoll. We can make it feel like he's anticipating an impact before it happens - that's an exciting thing we're working on," Nelson added.

Yesterday, we heard that Max Payne 3 is set to feature a more grizzled version of the NYPD detective from the first two games, now working as a private security contractor in Sao Paolo. He'll start with hair on his head, but, as the game progresses, he'll become the bald character we saw in the first screenshots revealed a few years ago.

As of yet, however, Max Payne 3's release date is still unknown, so don't get your hopes too high about the launch happening this year.
