Mass Effect 2, one of this year's biggest RPGs, is preparing to make its way onto the PlayStation 3, after achieving critical and sales success on the PC and Xbox 360, so its development studio, BioWare, has already begun detailing some of its aspects.

Mass Effect 2 was published by EA at the beginning of the year, and seemed like it would continue the tradition of the original title, which was published by Microsoft for its two main platforms, the Xbox 360 and PC.

EA had a change of heart though, and announced a few months ago that it will be bringing the second chapter to the PS3, and that it will have a special introduction for those that didn't experience the first game.

Now, BioWare bosses Dr. Greg Zeschuck and Dr. Ray Muzyka have talked about this special "introductory module" that will be included in Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3 when it will be released.

"What we're providing is an introductory module. We haven't revealed the details of what that is yet, but it's going to provide a lot of information on both the context and setting of Mass Effect" said Muzyka.

"I think players are going to have a really good framing of the experience as a result, and they're going to know what they're heading into. Mass Effect 2 is a stand-alone experience, and this is just going to make it that much richer."

When asked just what this introductory module will be, Zeschuk kept things secretive, and revealed that it just "remains a mystery," for now at least.

Besides the intro part, Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 will also get all of the multiple downloadable content packs that were released for the Xbox 360 and PC versions up until now, as well as all of the patches and bug fixes, which will ensure a great, albeit different experience from the other two versions.

Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3 is set to arrive in January 2011.
